OVERVIEW
If desired, the DD & S technical support staff will analyze each application for worst-case operating conditions (performance and environmental) to which the die will be exposed in the target application. With appropriate guard-bands applied to these conditions, DD & S compares each such parameter to the manufacturer’s published specification data for compliance. A written record of this analysis would then be provided to the customer. Any out-of-tolerance condition would be flagged for special attention. Where justified, DD & S can arrange performance verification testing for out-of-tolerance operating capability of a specific die type for a specific application (see Test & Processing Design section). This technical analysis capability mirrors that of any high reliability components engineering organization at all the major aerospace manufacturers. In fact, the technical specialists on staff at DD & S have made a career out of Hi-Rel components engineering for spacecraft programs worldwide.
Typical applications for which such special analysis is recommended are as follows:
(1) Environments in which the operating temperature may exceed the commercial operating temperature range of 0ºC to 70ºC ambient
(2)Applications in which the electrical demands of the peripheral circuitry do not align well with the Manufacturer’s device specification
(3)Those applications in which reliability of the die is of mission-critical importance
The analysis offered by the technical staff at DD & S is centered on the performance of the die itself and its ability to provide the desired functionality under the expected operating conditions. DD & S is not equipped to critique the external circuit designs in which the devices must operate.
